The SP5D 96w format 3D culture plate is ideal for generating, treating and analysing patient-derived tumour spheroids. It provides 25 spheroid replicates per well. Each well has 25 micro-wells sharing the same media. The plate is provided as 12 x 8-well strips that can be removed individually from a standard size frame. This makes it very convenient for processing small amounts of matierial from different individuals. Spheroid uniformity is enhanced by the round-bottom microwell design. The plate is compatible with standard imaging methods so there is no need to transfer spheroids for imaging. However it is easy to recover all 25 spheroids from a well, for histology. Also, it is easy to change media for longer-term culturing. The anti-adhesive treated microwells can accommodate spheroids up to 500µm diameter. The plate is compatible with standard imaging platforms.

Optimising tumoroid culture for best results

In SP5D spheroid culture plates the microscopic wells are produced with a hemispherical base to drive the rapid clusturing of cells into 25 rounded spheroids per microwell. A unique nanocoating prevents cells from adhering to the surface. Consistent spheroids are formed, and in a single macrowell the spheroids share the media, fostering more natural communication between cells.
